Slovakian Debut for truck sport Bernau

Truck Sport Bernau, partner of MAHLE Motorsport in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, will make its first appearance at the Slovakiaring this weekend.

Truck Sport Bernau is one of the longest-established and successful teams in the European Truck Racing Championship. Despite its long history, Lutz Bernau’s team is about to experience a first: round four of the ETRC takes the team to the Slovakiaring, near Bratislava, for the first time.

The 5.922-kilometre circuit is not only making its first appearance on the race calendar of the European Truck Racing Championship, but is also the longest track of the year. Four artificially-created hills give the circuit its distinctive look.

Truck Sport Bernau travels to Bratislava in fifth place in the Team Championship. In the Drivers’ Championship, Antonio Albacete is currently seventh after three race weekends.

The team, sponsored by MAHLE Motorsport, had an eventful weekend at its home race at the Nürburgring: while Albacete finished fourth in the opening race, he was forced to retire from race two following a crash. Albacete was leading race three until he came off the track whilst giving another driver room and ultimately came home ninth. The fourth race of the weekend was cancelled for safety reasons. Stuart Oliver had managed to spread fuel across the entire track on the warm-up lap.

The races at the Slovakiaring get underway at 14:55 and 17:45 local time on Saturday, and at 13:45 and 16:30 on Sunday.
