Finale in Hockenheim for BMW Motorsport

As the season draws to a close, the DTM, and with it the partnership between BMW Motorsport and MAHLE Motorsport, returns to the Hockenheimring – the scene of the opening races of the 2017 season.

Just two more races will be contested in this year’s DTM, before the 2017 season is condemned to history. The finale leads BMW Motorsport back to Hockenheim. It was here that the MAHLE Motorsport partner kicked off the DTM year and Marco Wittmann’s title defence.

At the start of the season, BMW claimed two podium finishes at the Hockenheimring: Timo Glock finished runner-up in the opening race of the season, while Marco Wittmann was third in race two.

16 races later, Wittmann is the best-placed BMW driver. With 134 points, he is currently fifth in the Drivers’ Championship. He still has a chance of successfully defending his title – albeit more of a mathematical chance than a realistic one. Championship leader Mattias Ekström has 38 points more to his name.

In the Manufacturers competition, BMW currently has 484 points and could still leapfrog ahead of Mercedes into second place at the final race weekend.

The teams line up without additional performance weight again at the Hockenheimring. This DTM-specific regulation was abolished prior to the races in Spielberg, upon the unanimous request of all parties.

The race on 14th October gets underway at 14:05 CEST. Sunday’s race begins at 14:30. MAHLE Motorsport wishes its partner BMW Motorsport a successful end to the season!
