Home GP at Mugello for MAHLE motorsport partner Ducati

The sixth race weekend out of 18 in the MotoGP season is a very special one for the Ducati Team. The MAHLE Motorsport Partner intends to be among the frontrunners at the Italian Grand Prix.

Ahead of the upcoming MotoGP events, the Ducati Team spent last week occupied with the usual level of detailed preparation. Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo completed two days of testing at the Circuit de Montmelò, outside Barcelona. The two Ducati riders completed a total of 269 laps between them, gathering important data for the next races.

The Grand Prix of Catalonia is scheduled to take place at that very track on 9th June. However, this is preceded by a very special race for the Ducati Team: the home Grand Prix at Mugello. The idyllic 5.245 km circuit in Tuscany brings back many happy memories for Jorge Lorenzo: the current Ducati Team rider has won five of the last six Grands Prix at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello.

Another special feature of Mugello: this circuit boasts the longest straight on the MotoGP calendar. Last year, Andrea Iannone clocked up 354.9 km/h here, the fastest speed ever recorded for a MotoGP motorcycle.

Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo naturally want to be among the fastest riders in front of their home crowd in 2017. As ever, they can rely on support and technology from MAHLE Motorsport.

The Ducati Team and MAHLE Motorsport partners will start the Italian Grand Prix weekend at Mugello on 2nd June and the race itself will take place on 4th June.
